Michael Marx

Michael Marx has been a sculptor and artist for as long as he can remember. As a child, he received art supplies as often as toys or books, early encouragement that shaped a lifelong creative path. Born in Massachusetts in 1969, Michael lived there for 18 years before moving to California in 1987. After 33 years in the Bay Area, he relocated to South Carolina in 2020, where he currently resides.

In his early work, Michael sculpted in FIMO, a polymer clay, honing his ability to transform imagined forms into three-dimensional reality. In 2000, he took his first metal clay class and was immediately hooked. Metal clay’s affinity for texture, flexibility of form, and range of finishing techniques made it an ideal medium for his artistic vision. The level of fine detail, rich texture, and varied forms he seeks are not easily achieved through traditional casting or fabrication methods.

Michael is deeply passionate about his chosen medium and is committed to showing that metal clay is fine art, not just craft.
