Join Janet Alexander learning the fundamentals of soldering Argentium and sterling silver. Janet will share her years of jewelry making experience and teach you how to create a stylish spinner ring. In this class you will make a flared wide band ring with your choice of textured sterling silver spinner. Techniques Learned Texturing sheet metal a texture hammer How to size a ring How to correctly size the spinner Soldering basic Annealing sterling silver How to solder the sterling silver spinner ring Flaring techniques for a wide band ring Using a torch

Kit Includes:

½” x 3” 20g sterling silver sheet, 3” textured sterling silver wire, 320-sandpaper, 600-sandpaper, Liver of Sulfur, silver solder, pickling solution, annealed wire, torch fuel, #4 saw blades (3), band tie, and class handout.

Students should bring the following tools:

2 ea. needle nosed pliers, jewelers saw frame, rawhide mallet, fine point marker, and flat file. Bring your ring mandrel if you have one otherwise you will share. Optional: Optivisor or magnifying glasses and task light

Instructor will provide the following tools for use in class:

Solder stations, ring gauges, table protection, lighter, torches, rawhide mallet, texture hammers, self-locking tweezers, dapping tools and block, bench pins, C clamps, pickle pot, flex shafts, keys square bur wax bench vise, ball been hammer, ring bending pliers, electric plugs, solder shears, flat nose pliers, flux, fuel
