Prerequisites: Must have experience and knowledge on sawing and soldering.

Description: In this one day class you will create this exquisite bridge ring where the ring shank attaches to the outside of the setting. Then add accent balls on each side. Make a step bezel setting for a cabochon stone. Learn how to fight fire scale on sterling silver, how to measure for ring shanks with square openings as opposed to round ring openings. Finally learn about the different polishing buffs and rubber wheels, sanding sticks, and polishes. Learn the difference between bobbing, Tripoli, and rouge polishes to bring your ring up to a beautiful shine! Skills and knowledge learned in this class:

  • Creating a cabochon setting
  • Making a decorative step around the bezel setting
  • Sweat soldering
  • If wanted, soldering gold
  • Using ring bending pliers
  • Setting a cabochon stone
  • Using a hammer piece for setting stones
  • Making accent balls the same size
  • Advanced soldering skills

    Kit Includes:

    Materials: Silver pattern wire (10.79 x 1.39mm) 3" long (makes around a size 8.5 ring), fine silver bezel wire, sterling silver round wire 24 gauge round (2" long), sterling silver sheet 20 gauge 1 x1", Argentium 20 gauge wire .5", file folder cardboard, dental floss, double sided tape, silver solder, plastic band tie, fuel, polish compound, polish soap, 400 and 600 grit sandpaper, baking soda, flux, Stop OX II, and printed handout.

    Students should bring the following tools:

    Round cabochon stone 15 - 18mm diameter, 4" dividers, Barrett file #4 (fine cut), triangle needle file, jeweler's saw, #04 blades, 2ea.needle nose pliers, flush cut wire cutters, fine tipped permanent marker, optional battery powered work light.
